The lung scan is an accurate and advanced method to find lung cancer early, while hopefully it can still be cured. The exam can be particularly helpful for current or previous smokers or those exposed to second hand smoke or otherwise at increased risk for lung cancer . You will be placed on the CT scanner table and scanned. The scan takes less than 20 seconds to complete. The images will be processed on a computer workstation and reviewed in three dimensions by a Board Certified Radiologist. No special preparation is required.
